Automations Overview

Intro to automations

Adding automations to your data can help put manual tasks on autopilot. With Honeycode, you’re able to easily automate actions, from simple navigation to complex data manipulation—all in real time.

Automations can be used to:

  • Add, edit, and delete data in tables
  • Send notifications and reminders
  • Change screens and navigate users through your app
  • Set variables in current or target screens

Automation start triggers

An automation may be as simple as a single action or a complex series of actions. An automation will start once a trigger condition is met. Depending on the start trigger, you will create automations either in your workbook tables or in Builder.

Triggers are described in the table below.

Trigger Description Workbook App
Date & time reached** Starts an automation once a date and time condition is met. The automation will run once for each row in the source table. :ballot_box_with_check: :heavy_multiplication_x:

Cell changes Starts an automation when a specified cell changes in the source table. :ballot_box_with_check: :heavy_multiplication_x:

Workbook automations

Workbook automations are always triggered by an event in your workbook tables. From inside your workbook, open Automations from the left navigation.

This will display the available triggers you can choose to start an automation. Click on +Add actions to open the actions menu.

Builder automations

To access automations in Builder, click on an app object that you want to add an automation to and in the properties panel, select the Actions tab.

Under “Quick Actions” you can choose to Navigate to new screen or Update current screen . You can also click +Create an automation to open the automation actions menu.

Automation actions

For any automation trigger, you can add one or more actions that will start once the trigger condition is met. Actions are described in the table below.
