Conditional formatting in the form based on the previous fields

I have a form with different fields. One of the field at the top is a category field based on which certain fields are relevant and others not. So, if the categories are A, B & C, and if I select A, then some fields should be greyed out, including some options in the drop-down (or choices). Is this kind of conditional formatting for fields possible? If yes, then how could I proceed?
