New to Honeycode? Getting Started Checklist

Are you new to Honeycode? Here's a quick checklist to follow while you build, then share your first app.

Welcome to Honeycode!

Honeycode can help your teams be more productive, faster. Use Honeycode as a solution to inefficiencies in project management, operations, customer pipelines, resource tracking, and approval workflows.

Your app can be used by teams of ten or by hundreds of people across an organization.

Work backwards in Honeycode

Here at Honeycode, we encourage you to think backwards. This video explains what we mean by that and how working backwards helps you build faster.

white_check_circle Join Honeycode

If you haven't taken action yet, sign up for a free Honeycode account. If you have signed up, return to your Honeycode My Drive. Then, follow along to build and share your first app. For the best experience use a Chrome browser on your desktop.

white_check_circle Invite a teammate

Teams are essential in Honeycode. It's how you collaborate. Adding team members lets you share workbooks and apps.

To invite team members, in the Teams page, go to Add team member in the upper right corner. In the invite modal, enter email addresses of people you’d like to invite to your team. By default, their role will be set to “team member,” but you can change roles (optional). You’re ready to Invite!

white_check_circle Create a workbook

Now you're ready to build! Let's start by creating a workbook from the Team Task Tracker template. You can think of workbooks as individual project folders. Workbooks in Honeycode contain both the tables and any related apps that work from the tables.

Sign in to Honeycode, then click create workbook in the upper right corner. Select Use a template, then click Team Task Tracker.

white_check_circle Add an app

With your workbook set up, now you can either add an app or explore the ready-made app included with the template. In the left navigation bar, click on the icon labeled Builder. Click the [+] to create a new app, or click any app in the list to edit your app in the Builder.

Poke around and see the app pages and interactions that are built in. You can insert objects into your app screens in three ways: from the Builder start screen, from the Insert icon in the toolbar, or, you can right-click in an app screen and select Insert.

white_check_circle Share your app

Share this first version of your app. You're now in position to collaborate on quickly making the app fit your team's needs.

To share an app, click Share in My Drive. Type the email addresses of your team members or those you want to invite to your team and with whom you want share. Then, click Update.
